A Cooks family of four is seeking the public’s assistance in getting back on their feet after a fire destroyed their three bedroom wooden house on Tuesday afternoon.
According to reports the owner, Angela Rickman-Craig of Cooks New Extension left home around 3o’clock to run an errand, when she received a call indicating that her house was on fire.
Rickman-Craig reported that after returning home to the uninsured property which once housed her, her husband and their two children was completely destroyed.
There has been no indication as to what caused the fire, however no one was injured during the blaze.
This was the second fire which occurred on Tuesday, as an early morning blaze destroyed a building which housed several restaurants at Jolly Harbour.
The fire brigade from St John’s is said to have responded in quick time however substantial damage was already done to the uninsured building.
Owner of the property Derek Barret said an estimated cost of $100,000 dollars in losses was incurred.
