In light of the Government’s pursuit towards green energy for Antigua and Barbuda, the government is looking towards the possibility of manufacturing electrics vehicle on the island.
According to Cabinet notes, the principals of EVRC, an electric vehicle manufacturing company presented a proposal to Cabinet on Wednesday to manufacture these vehicles in Antigua and to export motorbikes and cars that rely on green energy to power them.
The document further stated that the principals provided the Cabinet with a preliminary document that demonstrates both their technical abilities and the material imports that would be required.
Telecommunication Minister Melford Nicholas while speaking during the government’s Post-Cabinet briefing on Thursday said that a more detailed report was requested for further consideration.
The Cabinet notes indicated that the capital that would be invested in the venture would be provide by the manufacturing company, however, space would be required to enable the operation to take place in Antigua.
