Minister of Health Hon. Molwyn Joseph said that Antigua and Barbuda is one step closer to seeing the establishment of the country’s first burn unit at the Mount St John’s Medical Center (MSJMC).

In August 2016, Minister Joseph announced that the Mount St. John’s Medical Center (MSJMC) will soon become the home of Antigua and Barbuda’s first burn unit.

Just five months later, the Health Minister has revealed that his Ministry is currently in the process of putting together the medical practitioners who will be responsible for dealing with burn patients at the hospital.

He said that although the country may not see the completion of the burn unit in 2017, a team of practitioners will be available to deal with burn cases if necessary.

According to Minister Joseph the proposed Burn Center will be able to deal with cases of first and second degree burns.
