The Gaston Browne administration has put forward one million dollars towards the eradication of the Giant African Snail.

The nation’s leader prime Minister Gaston Browne made the announcement on Tuesday while addressing a number of concerns among farmers.

This comes after several attempts were made by the Plant Protection Unit to secure funding to control the Giant African Snail within the country.

The Giant African Snail was officially identified in April of 2008, after a report from the Plant Protection Unit of an infestation in the Jolly Hill area, however the population can now be found in 21 locations around the island.
